Sophisticated Seattle and the Opalescent Olympics

Our friends Brent and Kate came to visit from Kelowna, so we set off on a Washington sightseeing expedition. Our first stop was Seattle, where we took the opportunity to photograph the iconic space needle.

Next up was the Experience Music Project (EMP), where you are welcomed by this elaborate guitar sculpture.

There was a huge display of guitars, in all shapes, sizes and designs.

DJ Beanzu, rockin' out.

Entering Fantasy land...

The Iron Throne!

After our adventures in the mystifying land of the EMP, we strolled around the area taking in the sights, such as this bizarre sculpture.

Not a double rainbow, but a rainbow nonetheless!

On the way to discover the new world!

Next, after many hours of driving, our journey took us to the magical land of enormous trees and woodland creatures, Olympic National Park.

Kate...enjoying the majesty of this beautiful old growth tree.

After our frolic in the forest we headed to the coast, at Kalaloch Beach. A skim sesh ensued...

Brent...doin' his thang!

Next it was time for a mosey along Rialto Beach, which had some cool sea stacks and beached logs.

The final stop on our whirlwind Washington tour was Cape Flattery, the Northwestern tip of the Olympic Peninsula.

We were hoping to spot a whale, but instead we only saw two young men, with questionable judgement, leap into the icy cold ocean from the top of the rocky outlook. They proceeded to swim between the outcrops, and presumably climb back out onto the land, however we didn't stay to observe the outcome.
